Poverty has cause a lot of problems in our country, in which successive government have tried various efforts to address it with alleviation or eradication jet no long lasting solution has been provided. Since independence, this condition of living has only continued to generate most especially among our rural dwellers. Based on this, co-operative society have embarked on general projects and programs to find a lasting solution to reduce poverty and also aimed at increasing productivity in the rural sector.

A significant proportion of the public investment has been channel through several co-operative societies “World Bank Revenue 2009”. This project shall deliberately suggest the traditional regurgitation of unconfirmed figures and confusing terminologies on poverty, also attempt to provoke minds and stimulate discussion on the issue at hand with a view to achieve the above objectives.

According to Okuadwa (1990) he stated that economic growth alone is sufficient for poverty reduction that growth must be accompanied with equity promoted by participants, world development stated that participant of the poor themselves should be involved in the activities that would push them off from poverty and this would be term as necessary global poverty reduction in this view, co-operative society has develop an alternative model based on a bottom that will approach be all which will grant a direct involvement in the income generation and social activities quoted by world bank development report on poverty. However self development and empowerment have been recognized to have significant input on poverty.
