ABSTRACT

The study was designed to appraise the implementation of entrepreneurship curriculum in Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State, Nigeria. The study evaluated the availability of facilities and adequacy of human and material resources as well as instructional delivery strategies and challenges lecturers face in the implementation of entrepreneurship curriculum in the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku. Five research questions were developed to guide the study, bearing in mind the purpose of the study. The study was based on NCCE (2012) minimum standards as its benchmark. Literature reviewed was under conceptual and theoretical framework with review of related empirical studies. The researcher sees entrepreneurship as the acquisition of skills, ideas and other related variables for creating employment for self and society. The study adopted a case study design, with the population of 232; observation checklist and questionnaire were used as instruments for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results of the study were presented and interpreted in this work. The findings of this study showed that there is a lot to be done in terms of human resources, learning facilities, methods of teaching and instructional materials. From the findings of the study, conclusions were made, implications of the study, recommendations, and limitations of the study were highlighted as well as the suggestions for further studies. The need for this work was to find solutions to the problem of entrepreneurship programme, and to improve its curriculum implementation in tertiary institutions for self-employment.
