CHAPTER THREE
3.0 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology is the various methods that are used in the process of conducting investigations for this research work. This chapter deals extensively on the collection of data and methods used, sources of data, instrument used etc.
3.1 AREA OF STUDY
Microfinance bank is used for the purpose of this research work and Royal Trust Microfinance bank is used as a case study.
3.2 SAMPLE SIZE
The information on this research was collected from Royal Trust Microfinance bank. The bank has a fairly large number of customers.

The questionnaires used were distributed to some individuals in the bank. The questionnaire is divided into two section, section A and B. The section A contains the Bio-Data of the respondents i.e. Sex, Age, Marital Status, Occupation. The section B contains questions relating to the research work. This information will be used in the data presentation, analysis and will reveal the findings of the study.
3.4 INSTRUMENTS OF DATA COLLECTION
Data collections for this study were from primary and secondary sources. There are other possible classifications, but for the purpose of this research work, primary and secondary sources were preferred.
The primary source include questionnaire that was distributed to customers of the bank and personal interview carried out. While secondary sources are materials that have already been gathered for other purposes which include data collected from various textbooks journals and magazines. X2 = Σ (0 – E)2
E
Explanation of symbols.
0 = observed value
E = Expected value
X2 = chi-square
Σ = Summation
DF = 1 = Degree of freedom
0.005 = level of significant
