1.0 CHAPTER ONE – INTRODUCTION
As increase in the technology in the world rises using the electronic equipments, some are being used in a wrong way like, in the examination halls and confidential rooms. To avoid this wrong usage, a project on active mobile phone signal detector was chosen.
This handy, pocket – size mobile detector or sniffer can sense the presence of an activated mobile cell phone signal from a distance of more than one and a half meters. So it can be used to prevent the use of mobile phoned in the examination halls, confidential rooms, etc. It is also useful for detecting the use of mobile phone for spying and unauthorized video transmission. The circuit can detect the incoming and outgoing calls, short message services (SMS) and video transmission even if the mobile phone is kept in the silent mode. The moment the bug detects radio frequency transmission signal from an active mobile phone, it starts sounding a beep alarm and the light emitting diode (LED) blinks. The alarm continues until
the signal transmission ceases.
1.1 PROBLEM STATEMENT
Previously, there was no technology to detect the cell phone in the examination halls and in cell phone restricted areas. It has always been checking and there is still a good chance of having the cell phone with the person if he/she is not checked.
1.2 MOTIVATION
Cell phones can be used in good way and also in a bad way. When the class is going on, students intend to use their cell phones and listen to what is being taught. These days, students also carry their cell phones to the examination halls to browse the internet for solutions to the questions thereby aiding examination malpractice which the school management frowns at. Suggested and its application would put a total stop to these menace. This device can notice the use of global system/standard for mobile (GSM) in mobile phone restricted areas such as examination halls or confidential rooms etc. It is just like sniffer mobile that can sense the activity of mobile phone from a distance of 5 or more. The device can detect both incoming and outgoing calls, short message services (SMS) and video transmission even if
the mobile is kept in the silent mode.
1.3 AIM/OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The aim/objective of this project is construction of active cell phone signal detector.
1.3.1 Study various literature reviews concerning the construction of active mobile signal detector.
1.3.2 Design the circuit and construct an active mobile phone signal detector.
1.3.3 Study the efficiency of the phone signal detector and its limitation.
1.3.4 Validate the design and construction by testing the device in a selected environment.
