The main objective of this research is to analyze the current economic crisis of contemporary Brazil based on its antecedents. To develop it, it was necessary to talk about what an economic crisis is, to understand the formation of the Brazilian economy since the 15th century and to highlight its main milestones and also to analyze the global crisis of 2008 and to establish a relationship with the current economic scenario. The project is based on bibliographic and documentary research from the Government where material was collected for analysis and study of the Brazilian economy, as well as static data from official institutions. References from Brazilian economists and documentaries regarding the process of economic development were also used. Understanding on this topic is pertinent because this is the current economic scenario of contemporary Brazil. We have been in economic instability since 2014 due to the global crisis of 2008. The market today is producing less, the unemployment rate is growing every month and government accounts are high. And the most damaged of this situation is Brazilian society that has to live with this reality.
