DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTER BASED MATERNITY DATABASE SYSTEM   (A CASE STUDY OF POLY CLINIC ASATA ENUGU)

Abstract

Computer based maternity database system is used to track those information that exist or happening during or after pregnancy but before childbirth. Effective and appropriate antedated and prenatal care should be offered to all pregnant women.

However, different countries offered different sets of routine ANC, which are hardly based on explicit effectiveness criteria being mainly linked with long-term tradition or other inexplicit criteria. Some interventions still provided to women with normal pregnancies are not effective and an of them have not been evaluated. These interventions should be eliminated from base health care packages, and more research is needed on those interventions of unknown effectiveness. This project is written to help hospitals especially poly clinic Asata Enugu hospital Enugu in the area they encounter problems in keeping their pre natal information for pregnant woman and the salutation given to tackle those problem. This is implemented with visual basic programming language and micro soft access for effective pre natal information for pregnant woman information keeping.

ORGANIZATION OF WORK

This project is primarily dispirited to given an insight to computer based maternity database system chapter one talks about introduction to computer based maternity database system. Study of record their prenatal in information for pregnant woman. Chapter two comprises the literature review chapter three gives the details information about existing (old) system, which chapter four and five deals with the design and implementation of new system. Chapter six document the project work, while chapter seven summaries, conclusion and suggestions were made.
